Leucovorin injections are used to prevent the harmful effects of methotrexate (an anticancer drug). It's also used to treat methotrexate overdose.
To prevent the harmful effects of methotrexate Leucovorin injections help protect the body's cells from the harmful effects of the anticancer drug methotrexate. It is a type of B vitamin that is given after taking methotrexate for 24 hours. This ensures that methotrexate achieves its anti-cancer effect and leucovorin injection also prevents other side effects such as anemia.
